The Teapot Cafe - Alas!

Finally! After so long, i finally got a chance to take pictures of food again! It was my sis's birthday last Friday and we wanted to go to Happy Days to celebrate but changed of plans. We went to Teapot Cafe located in SS2.

This restaurant was here for a very long time. So long that i can't even remember! This modest little cafe was opened by a Malaysian Datin (this story is according to my mom) who loves collecting all sorts of teapots from all around the world. From miniature pots to a pot shaped of a duck, this little eatery has all 4 walls of teapots.

This cafe is not high-class nor low-class, it has an ambiance of coziness and quietness to it. I always wanted to try this place but didn't have a reason to walk in. Just few days ago, i finally set foot to this cafe and i love it! The word i use to describe this place is modest. There is something about the modesty of this cafe that i just love. And i also love the cottage feeling of the cafe.

Alrite', let's talk food and service now.

The Service:
According to my sis who been there twice, said that the service is quite slow when there is a lot of people but the day i when, the service was quite satisfying. They serve their customers with a glass of water each as a complimentary.

The waitress is quite friendly and she's willing to explain the dish to you. So, the service for Teapot Cafe on the scale of 5 is 4.

The Food:

Ice Lemon Tea
Yeah.. I know. I go to Teapot Cafe and not order their tea?
However, their ice lemon tea is not the same as the rest.
You can actually taste the difference in the tea they use.
Their version to me is better cuz the tea they use is better.

Watermelon Juice
Not bad but personally, it is quite diluted.

Nescafe Coffee
Ain't a fan of coffee.
But i suppose, it's Nescafe coffee so, nothing special.

Egg Sandwich - Toasted
At first i thought it was just a small portion but when it came,
I got a shock!
Can't beat my mom's egg sandwich but this one is not
too bad either.

Chilli Fried Rice
Not really spicy as i thought it would be.
However, nothing special about it. It's not horrible,
just nothing "Wow" to it. Nicely fried, the rice is not too
hard or soft. I do wish the ikan billis (anchovies) to be crispier.

Fried Kuey Teow
Ginormous portion! That was my first thought.
Compared to your normal Char Kuey Teow from
mamak, this one is HUGE! I like their version - not too
salty, not too tasteless. Just the right amount of chewiness
and sweetness that I like.

Fish & Chips
Oh my! I finally found my favourite Fish and Chips!
Just the right amount for me. Their tartar sauce is delious!
The fish is rolled with breadcrumbs and then fried. Crispy!
Unlike some stores where their fish is smaller than it looks,
this one is "what you see is what you get" kinda fish.
The chips is just nice to the thickness and saltiness.

Chocolate Cake
What's a meal without dessert right?
Classic piece of cake - i find it kept too long actually.
The texture of the chocolate is not as smooth
which is an indication that it was kept too long.
But besides the freshness, the cake is yummy.

Overall, some of the food is so-so. I will come back to this place again just for the fish and chips and the atmosphere that i fell in love with. A recommended place for those who, like me, been around SS2 but have not tried this place, people who needs a little R&R and also for people to bring their moms to for a late branch. Perfect atmosphere.

P.S.: This is based in personal liking and taste. It may vary with different people.

Cheers!

Fullhouse (Lifestyle Store & Cafe) - This is us!

Love them. Adore them. And on top of that, they are my long time besties of all time! No one on this planet earth can replace them! ♥♥♥

I'm talking about my school friends that i've known for many, many years... Tho some times it's hard to keep track with them, at the end of the day, it feels like an old stocking that found the other pair. Ok, i have no idea where the "stoking" idea came from but i just thought of it. You guys get the idea.

Well, this post is not going to talk about our meet-up time together or some down-memory lane grandmother story post cuz i know it'll make you yawn and the last thing i want to do is have you stare blankly at my blog.

My passion is writing and food. And what happens when i blend those 2 together? Ahh... you get what i mean...

Fullhouse Lifestyle Store and Cafe - many of us heard of this one-of-the-kind place. And we first heard of it at their very first branch, Ara Damansara (Nui Ze Xui).

I must say that their cafe is very unique but i have to point out that Fullhouse is quite identical to Garden Cafe (my review here). The similarities are, both have greenaries as part of their concept, both have white furnitures, both have small potted plants as their table setting, and both gives me the idea of an English tea house.

The difference? Garden Cafe is completely a garden concept unlike Fullhouse, greenaries and potted plants is just "part" of their interior design.

Oh, and Garden Cafe has a grand white piano as the centre of attention whereas, Fullhouse has a classic Mini Cooper as the centre of attention.

They opened their second branch at Sunway Pyramid (next to Sakae Sushi, opposite PappaRich) and that is where i get to expereince their food and atmosphere.

Their service is actually good. The female waitress where dressed as maids but of course not the male waiters. The waiter that served us with the name Martin (we asked his name. LMAO) was willing to recommend some food and also introduced their New Year menu.

But what i didn't like was that the food came earlier than the drinks, except for the tea. Even when we started with our meals, the drinks was yet to arrive but it came eventually.

So, aside from the service and surrounding, lets talk food!

Chocolate Iced Blended (RM9.90)
Ok, i don't really like to compare but when it
comes to food, you know you gonna compare with the best.
Compare to Theobroma Chocolate Lounge Iced Chocolate,
this one don't stand a chance. It's sweet, smooth but not as
chocolate-ty as Theobroma Chocolate. Sorry.

Honey Milk Topped with Green Tea (RM5.90)
It looks weird and sounds weird, yes. But it doesn't taste that bad.
Just like an ordinary milk tea with green tea. I must say, it's quite
refreshing.

Green Tea (RM2.90)
Here's the truth - it's Lipton Green Tea...
So, if anyone of you has Lipton tea at home, you know how it taste like.
It's Green Tea!

Mashed Potato (RM5.90)
It looks too nice to eat. Personally, i think the sauce is a little too
salty. The potato itself can stand alone cuz it's already salted.
Still acceptable but definitely not for people with hypertension.

Curry Laksa (RM12.90)
According to my friend who ate this, the prawns were not
properly cooked. But everything else was ok.
Tho, i have to point out - it's called "laksa" but they use
normal yellow egg noodle. Aren't they suppose to
use the white noodle? But if that's the case, they should
just rename it as Curry Noodle instead.

Schnitzel Breaded Chicken Cutlet (RM16.90)
It's actually normal chicken chop. The size of the chicken is the size
you see as it is. You know how you get your chicken half the size as it
is and the rest is flour?
Yeah, i hate that too... But this one is not!
Simple chicken chop for simple hearts (i just thought of that phrase).

Wok-Sear Chicken Chop (RM16.90)
Ahh... this is another version of chicken chop!
And i loved it!
Love the sauce, love the chicken (it left me craving for more!).
The sauce is black pepper and the little peanut size thing on it
is actually raisins! So it's salty and sweet at the same time.
It was served with mashed potato (underneath the chicken) and green veggies.

Smoothies-Fruities Fish (RM22.90)
Say what???
Yup! As predicted, the fish is served with stuff
we usually throw in the blander to make smoothies!
It tasted like mango and berry sauce but according to the menu
it's passion berries (errr??? Whatever that is).
This dish is excellent for every sweet-toothers out there.
The fish is fresh and soft and went perfect with the sweet sauce.

Overall, a nice place to have a special meal. I say special cuz besides the amazing surroundings, the price is fancy as well. What do we expect from a western/local restaurant? The price is almost like Secret Recipe (our total bill was RM115.50! And the service charge is RM10.50!!! O.O). Unless you can really splurge on these kinda meals everyday, hey, who am i to stop ya'? Food is alrite' - i have yet to discover the best of the BEST western food, so i can't label Fullhouse as the best, yet.

P.S.: This is based on personal liking and taste. It may vary with different people.

Bon appetit!

Theobroma Chocolate Lounge - It's a chocoholic heaven

I think this is my favourite post yet! Wanna know why? Cuz it features one of my favourite things. And if this is your fav thing too, we are both on the same page.

Presenting.......... CHOCOLATE!

This place is perfect for every chocoholic fanatics - Theobroma Chocolate Lounge.

Currently they have 5 branches around Klang Valley - Bangsar, Pavilion, 1 Utama, LCCT, and The Curve.

The service was moderate. The waiters were friendly but they forgot my order which was rather sad. The food and drinks didn't take that long to arrive - just a mere 5 to 10 minutes but it felt like forever cuz i was really hungry and the look of the chocolate fondue at the next table was just driving me bananas.

The menu - looks good enough to eat!

When i said it was chocolate heaven, i wasn't kidding

The food to me has mix reviews. Some of the dish was surprisingly delicious (I use the word surprisingly cuz besides chocolate, i don't know whether they know how to do anything else) whereas, some was very normal. But of course, their chocolate was splendid!

Princess of Iceland (RM10.90)
Translation? Iced Chocolate. There's chocolate ice cream to
compliment the whole glass of chocolate but they didn't
use expensive ice cream as i can tell. But the chocolate they
used for the drink was definitely not our local chocolate!

Snow White Mocha Frappe (RM12.90)
White, it's definitely white. Snow, it's definitely smooth like the snow.
According to the menu, it's Belgian white mocha frappe.
Not sure whether that means the chocolate is from Belgium or the mocha is...
But it's a lovely glass of frappe, i must say.

Ms Coco Frappe (RM12.90)
The moment i've been waiting for, my glass of delish chocolate!
I can write a list of what i love 'bout this drink.
For starters, it sent me straight to chocolate heaven and i stayed there
for a while. It was literally like drinking melted Haagan Daaz
chocolate ice cream! I'm serious! It's as thick, as kau, as smooth
as the ice cream! However, as i reached the bottom of the glass,
i felt a little "choco sick" (which means i was this close to say, ENOUGH!).
But no regrets here! I LOVE IT!

Now the FOOD!
Mushroom and Cheese Omelette (RM9.90)
It's like your normal English breakfast. Normal but very nicely done.
The chef took time for the egg and made sure there's no burn bits.
Although it's something i can make at home, i felt
happy cuz it's like comfort food to me.

Seafood Spaghetti Olio-Ollio (RM17.90)
Another ok dish here. Nothing special or extraordinary.
Its just pasta saute with sauce and prawns over it.
Oh! And red chillies!

Oven Baked Chicken (RM17.90)
Besides the drinks, this was the best of the best among all the dish!
I particularly like the rice. It's buttered rice but
it tasted like Indian rice with hint of spice.
The chicken, as usual, tender and fragrant. Its as if all the
restaurant have known the secret to nicely cooked chicken.

Overall, this is a must-go, must-see, must-taste restaurant! Although, it is quite pricey and i mean PRICEY, it's a great place to indulge yourself, once in a blue moon...

My final words to this post is... all CHOCOHOLIC MUST TRY THIS ONE OUT!

P.S.: This is based on personal liking and taste. It may vary with different people.

Cheers!

Otak-Otak Place - Two sisters taking over

It was a day out with my sister to 1 Utama. The purpose for this outing was to hunt for last minute Christmas gift. And yes, Christmas was on the very next day. Talk about last minute.

But before we put on our shopping gear, we had to feed ourselves first. And trust me, with the amount of people at the shopping mall, we'll need all the energy we can get to fight with those people.

Otak-otak Place, some of you heard of it, and some of you think i'm talking about the banana-leaf-wraped fish. Although they do sell otak-otak, this is a restuarant every old-school people would love!

Why?

Picture taken from Feedmelah.com
(didn't get to take this picture cuz there were so many people passing through!)
Please don't sue me for this picture!

Besides, the classic black China bicycles being the center of attention, this place is packed with retro-vintage stuff. There were old oil-lamps, cassettes (yes, the very same old tape we used to have before the VCD era came around), classic water flask (like the one in our grandmother's house), and lots more. And not to mention some of my personal favourite childhood games - five-stone aka Batu Seremban, bottle caps and Congkak!

LMAO! Even my dad don't have these!

Bottle caps and card that i'm not too sure how to play
(but there are instructions on how to play it on the tissue box)

Congkak! My all time favourite!

You can play it while waiting for your food or if you have time to spare, after your meal!

My sis recommended this place for lunch cuz she said the food was, quote, "Not bad lah..."

The food was indeed, not bad (minus the lah)! I love the way they served some of their food. For example, they serve their nasi lemak in the classic stainless steal tiffin carrier and their fish head noodle in the claypot! So cute!

Barley (RM2.50 - Hot)
Your normal barley drink. I like the fact that they weren't stingy
with their barley like how some restaurants are.

Milo (RM3.80 - Cold )
Your classic cup or rather, glass of Milo kau!

Ayam Perchik with nasi lemak (RM9.90)
Mmm... the rice is very fragrant like our
local mak cik's nasi lemak rice. The chicken is tender and meaty.
But what i love so much about this dish is their sambal!
Their sambal is delicious! There's ikan bilis (anchovies) in it.
Maybe to those who like spicy won't fancy it cuz it's not very spicy.

Sorry for the blurness... :(
Fish Head Noodle (RM9.90)
To me personally, i think i can get a better bowl of fish head noodles.
The fish given was mostly bones, there weren't much meat.
It's a so-so dish for me.

Before i forget, their menu is so, so, so totally 100% old-skool! But caution, for those who have bad school memories or is after their SPM, you may not find this appealing as i do. Their menu is printed on our classic school note book! Or should i say, buku latihan / buku nota!

It's very different compared to the ordinary printed hard cardboard menu.

Overall, i love the food, i love the ambience, and not to mention, their service is fast!

Many faces of my sister. She's gonna kill me if she sees this.
Note: That's why it's so small... LOL!

P.S.: This is based on personal liking and taste. It may vary with different people.

Cheers!
